West Glacier Hike

I hiked out to the Mendenhall Glacier today with the boy friend, Eva and Luna and a couple friend's today. It was supposed to be an overcast sort of day and the weather ended up being gorgeous! I've only been on that trail a couple of times, but it's the boy friend's favorite trail so he'd been on it numerous times. Took the dogs on as their very first true hike after they were fixed. They did very well. Running up and all over the glacier once we arrived.

It's always amazing to get to the glacier and see how much it's changed from the year prior. I had taken a photo of some good friend's of mine a few years back and I stood in about the same stop as they did and took a picture with the boy friend. We were not even under the ice anymore. In fact, most of the ice caves are gone this year. Wonder how much longer it'll be before it becomes a hanging glacier...

We got there in decent time too. On the way back, Eva was running all over the place and ended up slipping down some shale and wore her front two pads down quite a bit. Luckily, they didn't bleed and she just had to take it easy walking in grass for a couple of days afterward.
It was such a fun hike.
