Glacier Walk

Today was gorgeous, beautiful and not nearly as cold out as they were reporting on the news. This morning my friend and I went out to the Mendenhall Glacier with our dogs. The wind wasn't really even blowing out over the glacier. And the sun was warm enough while we were walking that we didn't even need our hats.

The dogs had a BLAST! And it was rather nice because of the way the snow trail was it was a nice orderly walk out on the ice. I'm really hoping for nice weather this summer, we were pretty much ripped off last summer and I am hoping that their will be a LOT of sunny days this year that I can fill up with camping trips, kayak trips, hiking trips. I decided not to bring my snow shoes with me on this hike. But maybe later on.

Here are a few photos from our walk with the dogs.

Is it Spring yet?

So far as being able to get out and do a bunch of hiking like I wanted to it's been snowing. Which really isn't much of an excuse however, I haven't been able to really get out and break in my snow shoes yet. With the weather supposedly staying mostly clear and with no more snow scheduled for the weekend I might take my snow shoes with me to the Glacier.
I'm supposed to be running a 5K this morning; which looks like is going to be happening at the gym seeking as how the roads are all covered in ice and snow.

Here are some pictures of the Thane snow slide and some amazing Juneau weather to make you miss Alaska.

Tomorrow I will be hiking out on to the glacier on the ice. I'll take more pictures then. TTFN.
